The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare Review

Image
When it comes to influential names in cinema I don’t think there’s a name that sticks more than Guy Ritchie, from humble beginnings in the late 90s he’s gone on to direct many beloved movies ranging from cult classics to Hollywood blockbusters and his latest effort falls into the category of the latter and possibly could fall into both within a few years’ time. The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare is Ritchie’s latest effort and also features some very impressive behind the scenes talent including producer Jeremy Bruckheimer, who is perhaps best known for his work on Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean films. The movie is based on the true story of Operation Postmaster, a mission that was conducted during World War 2 by the likes of Prime Minister at the time Winston Churchill and Ian Fleming who went on to write James Bond, one of the most influential characters in the spy/action genre. It is believed that Operation Postmaster and the events surrounding it were Ian’s inspirati...

How the Spider-Verse Movies impacted animation

Image
So, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse just released and it is phenomenal. It’s just as good if not better than its predecessor and really has me excited for the next movie in this trilogy and how it will wrap up the story of this version of Miles. And while a discussion of the movie is entirely worthy of its own post, I’m actually here instead to discuss how the first Spider-Verse movie impacted animation when it first released and how it continues to impact that genre as a whole, let’s talk about it. BEFORE RELEASE So before we talk about how the movies impacted animation, we need to go back a long way. Plans for an animated Spider-Man movie go back as far as 2015 when it was officially announced that Phil Lord and Chris Miller would be writing a movie for Sony who by this point were in the aftermath of the Amazing Spider-Man 2’s failure and had to partner with Marvel to bring Peter Parker into the MCU. In 2016, Lord and Miller completed a script for the movie and Sony ch...

Back to the Future IV: My Idea for a sequel

Image
Back to the Future is one of the most iconic film franchises in cinematic history, it kickstarted the career of Michael J Fox and is likely the inspiration for Rick and Morty. The last entry in the series was over 30 years ago and while a continuation of the series is unlikely due to Fox’s ailing health, I’ve been thinking about a few ideas of how a possible “Back to the Future 4” could work so let’s take a look.   So there are a few things we can do with a Back to the Future 4, firstly there are a couple of actors from the films that are still around today like Christopher Lloyd, Elizabeth Shue and Lea Thompson who played Doc Brown, the 2 nd Jenifer and Lorraine McFly respectively. Now my pitch for Back to the Future 4 would focus on Marty McFly’s son Marty Jr seeking out Doc Brown and they end up going on some kind of time travel adventure, I like to think that a story like this could provide the audience with a similar dynamic to Rick and Morty because I imagine Mart...

Eastenders 2023: Interesting ideas

Image
Soap Operas are a massive cornerstone of scheduled television these days and while there are currently several choices to pick from, I'm talking about what is in my opinion one of the best and that is Eastenders. Since 1985, we've been glued to our screens as we watch the lives of the residents of Albert Square going about their lives as they endure all kinds of issues, the show is also no stranger to sensitive storylines with the current story of Lola Pearce's Brain Tumour being a prominent topic this year but I'm actually here to discuss some of the current storylines happening in the square and why I'm really enjoying them. So the first one I'm going to discuss follows Whitney Dean played by Shona McGarty who is the lead in a storyline about a disorder known as "Edward's Syndrome" which sadly has resulted in Whitney making the difficult decision to terminate the pregnancy, now while the subject of the storyline I'm sure is awful to see unfol...

Shows on Netflix I'd recommend

Image
So as we all do, I enjoy watching stuff on Streaming platforms whether that be Amazon Prime or the subject of this post, Netflix. Now I think it's no secret that Netflix has a wide variety of content on offer for people to watch and I actually discovered a few of my favourite films and TV Shows through the platform, and while I could go on and on about my favourite movies, I'll stick to shows for this post and talk about movies another time. SEX EDUCATION Starting off with a Netflix original is a show about the students of Moordale Secondary School, the show mainly focuses on awkward teen Otis, the son of relationship and sex therapist Jean. Now Otis is somewhat embarrassed of his mother and doesn't talk about his home life when at school and confides mainly in his best friend Eric, eventually following some time spent with bully Adam and his mother's job exposed to the kids, Otis starts up a sex clinic with Maeve Wiley who is known as the "mean girl" of Moord...

Introductions

Image
So I'm kind of new to this thing but I've wanted to start a Film and TV Blog for a while now so welcome! So introductions first, my name's Albie and I'm a young filmmaker based in the UK. I'd tell you more details in that areas but I'd either have to kill you or redact it like Ron Swanson did when he got the flu in that episode of Parks and Recreation but whatever. Anyway, you might actually know my name for a few things whether it be my YouTube Channel "Crafting Bros Studios" or my Podcast "The Movie Geeks" with my friends Brandon and Taylor, we're still getting things off the ground right now and things are going really well so far. MY BACKGROUND IN FILMMAKING For as long as I can remember, I've always loved watching movies on my own or with friends and family, some of my earliest memories were watching the Indiana Jones movies with my family which explains why I love the Adventure Genre so much, from then on I thought to myself th...
